What is "STEM?"
STEM is an acronym for "Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics."
What is included in the registration fee?
Our campers will be able to participate in a full week of day-camp activity, they will be provided lunch each day in the university's cafeteria, and they
will get a STEM Camp T-shirt.
What are "STEM Challenges?"
Our STEM Challenges are designed to engage each camper team in an effort to solve a problem that will require a variety of skills and understandings.
The unique challenges throughout the week will encourage campers to approach problem solving in a variety of ways.
What are "Interactive Lectures?"
The Interactive Lecture sessions will be taught by a university professor or outstanding local high school teacher. In these sessions the campers will
be exposed to new and intriguing STEM fields, and during these sessions the campers will have opportunities to explore these fields. The
Interactive Lecturer will also leave each camper team with a challenge which the teams will be expected to meet during the week.
What are the "Reports" scheduled for Friday?
Friday is Report Day at STEM Camp. The camper teams will present their work in front of each of the Interactive Lecturers. These presentations are
scored and become part of the camper team total for the week. The Report sessions are formal events, and are an integral part of the camp
experience.
Are parents allowed to attend the Friday Reports?
Parents are encouraged to attend one or more of these four sessions. Note that the schedule for these can be found under the Daily Schedule tab
above. Room numbers and topic descriptions will be assigned and provided to parents at registration on the first day of camp. Note also that
parents are welcomed to join the campers for lunch on that day.
